Dermal Fillers for the Under-eye Area

Published on: May 5, 2017

The skin around our eyes is the thinnest and most delicate on the body, which also means that it is prone to fine lines and thinning with age, leaving the area looking dark and sunken. The area under the eyes, known as the tear trough, can be revitalised with the use of dermal fillers if makeup isn’t quite doing the job.

At the London Cosmetic Clinic we use the best quality products available on the market for our injectable dermal fillers. In the case of tear troughs, we tend to use synthetically-created hyaluronic acid to add volume and moisture to the area. Hyaluronic acid is a compound naturally found in the body and we use synthetically created hyaluronic acid in a sterile gel that is completely free of animal or human DNA but still has the same effects as the hyaluronic acid created by the body and is both biocompatible and biodegradable.

Prior to your treatment, you will have a free, non-obligation consultation with our experienced specialist doctor where they will assess the condition of your skin. During this consultation your doctor will also determine the amount of the product required for your desired results and will discuss aftercare treatment with you. The product is injected using cannulas, blunted needles that have a lower risk of bruising or injecting into blood vessels, and is then massaged into place to give a smooth, even result. As the hyaluronic acid adds volume, this makes the skin plumper and lifts it so that it isn’t as close to the blood vessels and therefore the under-eye area does not look as dark and the eyes lose any sunken appearance they have.

As the treatment is non-surgical, you will not have to undergo any general anaesthetic or take time out for recovery time, there is also no risk of scarring or stitches. You will notice a difference straight away and the effects last for around 12 months. After then you can decide whether or not you would like the treatment repeated.
