Mechanical Microblading

We all have kicked ourselves for over-tweezing our eyebrows during our younger years. If like us, you have done the same at some point, do not stress! The ever changing and reinventing medical and beauty industry will have a solution for you. It’s a bit confusing as to when thicker eyebrows started making their come back, but thankfully they are here and hopefully to stay.

The London Cosmetic Clinic is happy to introduce mechanical microblading at our premises in Central London.

The development of microblading has grown tremendously and has become a preferred treatment in the cosmetic and beauty industry.

Individual and customised applications are designed for every patient and the results are a convenient ‘quick fix’ with long lasting results, appropriate for today’s busy life styles.

There are various techniques and brow enhancing treatments available. Many are very similar and may be referred to by different names e.g microblading; semi-permanent make-up; micro pigmentation; pmu etc

Here at The london Cosmetic Clinic we use a method called mechanical microblading. This is a combination of microblading and micro pigmentation (often referred to as the same technique). Natural looking pigment, especially developed for cosmetic and medical purposes, are deposited by a single needle below the epidermal/dermal junction of the skin. This is managed with a hand-held machine, much like a tattoo pen to achieve realistic hair strokes or misty finishes that can last for 12-18 months.

The technique and equipment used in microblading, a form of semi-permanent make-up and micro pigmentation, is very different than the technique and equipment used in permanent tattooing. Microblading makes use of a bladed pen or electric machine to create either hair-like strokes or misty eyebrows. This method is know as mechanical microblading- the method we at The London Cosmetic Clinic use to create our beautiful brow enhancements. Permanent tattooing makes use of pigments that contain carbon and is deposited into the middle layer of the skin known as the dermis. This can often lead to a change in colour, a permanent fixture on the brows and sometimes a bit of scarring.

The mechanical microblading; semi-permanent make-up; micro pigmentation are much more superficial treatments than the more permanent tattooing. The pigment is deposited into the border between the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin) and the dermis (middle layer of the skin). For this reason, pigment may migrate to the surface and exfoliate away requiring either a top up session or a colour boost when needed.

Semi-permanent make-up, or mechanical microblading, or micro pigmentation also make use of much more natural shades of colour. The natural pigments used do not easily change colour in the skin, like the permanent tattooing, and the colours tend to fade into lighter shades of the original colour or fade away completely. This prevents the oxidation process of inks causing them to turn blue or red with time.

The mechanical microblading; semi-permanent make-up; micro pigmentation methods are extremely popular amongst our male and female patients. This is due to the natural brow enhancements created and the low risk associated with this treatment. The pigments fade or fade away between 12-18 months and there are various factors associated with the length of retention of the colour, but generally most patients tend to come back for a colour boost at these times.

All patients will require a complimentary consultation with our Aesthetic Therapist at the clinic. She will go through your medical history with you, discuss your concerns and needs and perform a patch test before making your booking.
