The London Cosmetic Clinic is happy to introduce Cosmedic® and medical micro-pigmentation at our clinic in the heart of Knightsbridge, London.
Medical micro-pigmentation refers to depositing micro amounts of coloured pigments into the skin leaving a trace of pigment, in order to re-colour an achromia or reconstruct a structure.
The purpose of chromatic/colour repair is to restore the natural skin colour in the de-pigmented areas. Sometimes the purpose is to restore an anatomical structure such as lips, eyebrows or mammary areola. This is called a chromatic reconstruction.
Medical micro-pigmentation can vary from short-term to long-term depending on the skin type, depth of implant and pigment concentration.
What treatments are available with medical micro-pigmentation for the face and body?
•Scar camouflage including vitiligo concealing
•Areola restoration
•Hair Simulation

Check Our PricelistThe aim of re-pigmenting a scar is to diminish the visibility of the scar with regard to the adjacent healthy skin. In order to obtain a good colour match close examination of the scar and the surrounding skin is required.
The scarred site must be a minimum of 1 year old. The reason being, premature work on the scar tissue can create further damage to the skin.
The tissue may not be healed sufficiently and not suitable to proceed with re-pigmentation. In this case you will be advised on additional treatments with our Skin care specialist to rectify the colour or texture of the treatment site.
Yes, however the lesion must be in remission for at least 1 year before treatment, otherwise the disorder may manifest itself in other areas of the body or spread outside the re-pigmented site.
Types of scars that can be treated with medical micro-pigmentations on the face and body:
•Scar tissue resulting from plastic surgery (post face lift scars are very popular to conceal)
•Scars from broken glass
•Deep scars
•Burn scars
•Hypertrophic scars
Most scar re-pigment procedures will require multiple sessions, due to the area being damaged tissue. Every patient will be advised upon consultation, as it is completely dependant on the area, however it generally takes between 2-4 sessions.
Patients must be aware that maintenance is required every 12 to 18 months and must be motivated to pursue the relevant sessions as per instructed by the Specialist.
During and after the procedure the area will display redness and perhaps capillary breakage that resembles the original trauma. In some cases the appearance can have an emotional connotation for the patient. The skin will not appear normal and camouflaged immediately after the initial procedure. This is part of the normal healing process. In most cases results are seen after 2 weeks.
Yes, a consultation and patch test is a necessity. Without these we will not be able to pursue the treatment. Consultations are free of charge, however the patch test costs £20.

Micro-pigmentation is not an option when considering a solution to hair thinning. The implanted pigment would appear artificial, so we advise shaving the scalp or hair transplant as a more suitable solution.
-Micro-pigmentation can enhance the results of hair transplant procedures by camouflaging the donor site scars and by creating an illusory solution. -Micro-pigmentation can improve the absence of hair in the beard or moustache as a result of an accident or operation to correct a cleft lip/ palate. -Micro-pigmentation is employed to camouflage a scar on the pubis following an operation such as a caesarean.
