What are DESOFACE® and DESOBODY®?
DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® is the latest and most effective FDA-approved fat-dissolving injection that eliminates localised pockets of fat like double chin(submental fat) and jowl.
How do DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® work?
DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® contain an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid belongs to a class of medication called cytolytic medications. This medication emulsifies and solubilizes fat tissues.
Our body naturally produces bile salt, a substance that helps the body absorb fat. Deoxycholic acid is a synthetic form of bile salt. When DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® is injected subcutaneously, deoxycholic acid acts directly on fat cells and destroys them. The destroyed cells will be later broken down and the waste product will be eliminated from the body through the lymphatic system. As a result, it reduces convexity or facial fullness.
DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® is very effective compared to other fat-dissolving products like AQUALYX. This is because the deoxycholic acid that makes up DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® is more effective, safe and comfortable than phosphatidylcholine contained in other fat-dissolving injections. Not just that, research has shown that deoxycholic acid is the substance responsible for dissolving adipose tissue such as subcutaneous fat, visceral fat and bone marrow adipose tissue.

Procedure of DESOFACE® and DESOBODY®
The first step is to book an appointment with Our specialist doctors who will examine your face and review your medical history to ascertain if you are a good candidate for DESOFACE® treatment.
The treatment involves the injection of Deoxycholic acid directly beneath your skin. As such, on the day of your treatment, before giving you the injection, we will apply a pain-numbing cream or ice pack to the treatment area to make you feel comfortable and almost pain-free.
The injections will be administered in the most comforting way to prevent pain and discomfort.
Depending on the type of result you want and the amount of fat at the treated area, you may need three to four treatment sessions spaced at 5-6 weeks intervals. Each treatment session wouldn’t last more than 15-20 minutes.
This treatment requires little downtime. About 30 -60 minutes after the treatment you may experience slight bruising and swelling on the treatment site. We may give you certain pain relievers to ease the discomfort. The minor swelling should subside after some days.

Does DESOFACE® work?
DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® work effectively in dissolving stubborn fat under the chin. However, this is not a weight loss treatment. It doesn’t stop you from gaining weight, it only reduces fat in the target area. You need to follow up the treatment with a healthy lifestyle for permanent results.
How long does it take for DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® to work?
It may take 4 weeks after the initial and second treatment sessions before you start seeing visible results. And final results may take about 7 weeks after your final treatment.
The result of the treatment is not instant because it may take some time for the Deoxycholic acid to break down the fat and for your body to metabolise and eliminate waste products from the fat cells.
Depending on how fast your body metabolises, you may see quicker or later results.
What should I avoid before the DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® treatment?
To reduce the risk of bruising and other sensitivity during and after the treatment, we often advise our patients to avoid taking alcohol and certain medications like Ibuprofen 24 hrs before the treatment.
What to avoid after fat-dissolving injections?
- Do not apply cosmetics to the treated area for at least 24 hours after treatment.
- You should also avoid strenuous activities and exercise for at least one week after your treatment.
- Do not get any other treatment in the treated area for at least 14 days after the treatment.
- You should also avoid hot baths, showers and saunas for 5 days.
- If you experience bruising, don’t expose the area to sunlight for 14 days until the bruises have disappeared.
Is the DESOFACE® and DESOBODY® result permanent?
The result is permanent. The treatment permanently eliminates the excess fat cells underneath your chin as long as you follow up with a healthy lifestyle and avoid weight gain.
What are the side effects of DESOFACE® and DESOBODY®?
You may experience slight bruising and swelling 1 hour after the treatment. These side effects show that the active ingredients in the injection are beginning to act on the fat cells which will lead to the ultimate disruption of the stubborn fats.
Swelling, tenderness and redness of the treated area may persist for some days before they disappear. After a week, the fatty tissues in the treated area will get pressed and this can lead to sensitivity.
All these side effects are normal and will subside after some days or a week.
