Indications for Ultherapy®
Ultherapy® is used to stimulate collagen production and can be used anywhere on the face and chest.
Facial treatments can focus around the temple and eyebrows, eyelids, upper and lower face, around the mouth, brows and down the neck.
Chest treatments can focus on the décolletage area which can often show early signs of aging.
The treament
Ultherapy® is an ultrasound treatment that is conducted as follows:

After the treatment
After an Ultherapy® treatment, most people should not experience any side effects – apart from some redness immediately after treatment, but this should last no more than a few hours.
Some patients may experience swelling, tingling or tenderness, but these also won’t last very long and should not stop you from resuming your typical daily activities.

What is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® is a non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound technology to target deep structural layers of the skin to increase collagen production.
Unlike other non-surgical face lift treatments, Ultherapy® does not rely on guesswork when finding the right layers of skin to target. Instead, your practitioner will be able to actually see under the skin so they hit the right target, every time.
The length of the treatment will depend on the areas you want to target ie. face and neck, brow bone only, décolletage etc. Most people will spend no more than 90 minutes in the clinic receiving this treatment.
How does Ultherapy® work?
Ultherapy® works by using micro-focused ultrasound under the skin’s surface to create cellular friction and pin-pointed heating.
This procedure causes collagen to be produced at a faster rate which can help to softly tone your face and neck, smooth out fine lines, and make skin appear fresher and more youthful.
Ultherapy® works similarly to a magnifying glass and sunlight, focussing 65°C heat at a specific point to create a reaction, while leaving the skin’s surface and upper layers completely unaffected.
Does Ultherapy® hurt?
Everyone’s pain thresholds are different, so will deal with the burning sensation caused by Ultherapy® in different ways.
You can talk to your practitioner about how to minimise the pain if you’re worried, but generally the procedure only causes patients momentary discomfort, which goes away after treatment.
How effective is Ultherapy®?
Ultherapy® delivers relatively quick and natural results for patients. Although the results are not instant, you should start to see some change in your face and neck around 3 months post-treatment.
Collagen takes a while to grow, and it takes time for old tissue to be replaced, so it’s good to be patient.
The effects of Ultherapy® are also long lasting, with a single treatment being able to last for over a year.

How long does Ultherapy® last?
Ultherapy® treatment stimulates collagen production. It results in the lifting of sagging skin in the target area and the improvement of wrinkles and lines.
You will notice a tightening of your skin almost immediately after your treatment. However before you can see significant changes, it may take up to 3 to 4 months.
On average, the result of Ultherapy® can last two years. However, the result can last longer if you follow up the treatment with lifestyles that support the maintenance of produced collagen and the production of new ones. You should also avoid habits such as excessive smoking and exposure of your skin to ultraviolet rays if you want the result to last longer.
Other factors that may affect the longevity of your treatment include your age when you got the treatment as well as the area you are targeting. For people who are over 60 years old when they undergo the treatment, the result may not last longer compared to younger people because their body cannot produce enough collagen and elastin as fast as it loses them.
Also, treatment targeting the sagging neck region and dropping jawline does not last longer compared to other areas. As such you may need maintenance treatment after every six months or a yearly Ultherapy® treatment routine to maintain your desired skin at all times.
How many times can you do Ultherapy®?
The number of times you can undergo Ultherapy® treatment is based on your decision. You can decide to wait till the result of your last treatment lapse, make your treatment a yearly skincare routine or come in for maintenance every six months.
Although Ultherapy® results can last up to two years, that doesn’t mean you have to wait till the result lapse before you can get another one. This is because the result of Ultherapy® doesn’t show immediately. It may take up to 3 to 4 months before you see the desired change. If you wait till your last treatment lapse before you get another one, you may have to deal with signs of aging during those waiting periods.
Yearly routine Ultherapy® will support a consistent supply of collagen to keep you younger at all times. During your consultation, our doctors will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that suits your skincare goal.
How many sessions of Ultherapy® treatment do you need to achieve the desired result?
Normally, one session of Ultherapy® treatment is enough for you to achieve the desired result. However, if you have an extreme case of collagen loss, you may need up to 2 to 3 sessions. During your consultation, our cosmetic experts will examine your skin to determine the number of sessions you require to achieve your desired goal.

It doesn’t require incision or anaesthesia. You may feel a warm sensation under your skin during the procedure due to the stimulation of collagen. Despite the ease of the process, we will apply pain numbing cream to the treatment area before we start to eliminate any risk of pain.
