PDO (Polydioxanone) thread is a strong filament fibre,consisting of a few twisted solid fiber thread, which dissolves in the body tissue after a certain time (usually 6-8months) PDO material is used for more than 30 years in plastic surgery, gastroenterology, urology, gynaecology, ophthalmology for cutaneous and subcutaneous stitches. These threads have high tensile strength, excellent pliability and smooth tissue passage. This material meets all the requirements established by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) for surgical sutures. PDO ultimately breaks down into water and carbon dioxide which are naturally absorbed into skin. PDO cause a very mild reaction during absorption, minimal acute inflammatory reaction with subsequent formation of new collagen production around the thread (neo collagenesis). Who is suitable for PDO Thread Lift? The procedure is suitable for most people from 25 onwards, when the effects of ageing become apparent. Ageing causes the skin tissue to thin because the collagen and elastin fibres break down, which results in sagging skin, deep creases, folds and wrinkles. The 30-minute procedure is simple, safe and causes minimal discomfort and minimal downtime for patients in the doctor’s clinic. Numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area for additional comfort. After a small local anaesthetic, the doctor inserts the PDO threads under the skin to a depth of about three to five millimetres using needles of differing length and thickness, adapted to each treatment area, creating an immediate lifting effect.
