Morpheus 8 is an in-clinic procedure which combines RF technology with fractional micro pins. When passed over the areas of the skin requiring treatment, the pins create tiny injuries and trauma and RF heat energy is transported to the deeper layers of the dermis. This is where the magic happens! The production of vital youth-giving substances such as collagen and elastin is stimulated with this treatment and this in-turn encourages a natural healing response, where new and healthy collagen and elastin are produced. What happens during a Morpheus8 treatment?
Prior to the treatment, a topical anaesthetic will be applied, so that you are fully-comfortable during the procedure. After around 30 to 45 minutes, the treatment can begin. The Morpheus8 hand-held device head is passed over the areas of concern and at this point you may feel a slight tingling and warming of the skin, but this is tolerable. A full treatment (not including the numbing period) takes around 30 minutes.
As Morpheus8 is a non-surgical procedure where the skin is not broken, there is minimal downtime. You may experience pink and shiny skin after the treatment for around 5 days, and this is completely normal. As heat energy has been applied to the skin, you may find that your face feels tight and your skin may peel slightly after a couple of days which is a natural response to this procedure.
After your Morpheus8 treatment, you will be advised to avoid strong sunlight for a few days and wear a high factor SPF sun cream as well as a good quality moisturiser. Dr Johnson can advise on the best skincare to use following your treatment. After the first day following your procedure, a good mineral makeup is advised to assist with the healing process.
