WHAT IS PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP)?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy: Skin rejuvenation using your own cells.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) obtained from your blood contains platelets which work in the body to clog up cuts and tears. Platelets also have growth factors on the surface which stimulate collagen production when injected into the skin.Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been used in many medical procedures over the years, and its safety is well established. Examples include wound healing, during joint surgery, etc.
PRP has been used for facial rejuvenation since 2006 in the UK, Europe, Japan, and Australia.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy involves injection of the patient’s own platelets and fibrin for the cosmetic treatment of wrinkles or scars in the face, hands, and neck. Known to some as the “vampire facelift”. It takes about 20 minutes for each treatment, and offers improvements for up to 18 months.
What is Microneedling/Skinpen treatment?
SkinPen precision creates controlled micro injuries that stimulate the body’s natural wound healing response which initiates the release of natural growth factors to improve collagen formation and cellular tissue. Collagen induction therapy assists in the rejuve-nation of the epidermal integrity resulting in improved appearance of fine lines and wrin-kles. Yes, PRP treatments can be used on all skin types and colours.
WHAT is the procedure?
Our specialist will assess the degree of skin aging, perform a simple skin analysis, and recommend a sensible treatment with reasonable outcome. Pre-treatment photographs are taken.
Your skin is cleansed and prepared. Local anesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes . Blood is taken from your arm and placed in a test tube which is then centrifuged.
The Platelet Rich Plasma is then prepared and activated.
Microneedling treatment will then performed after apply PRP topically on the treated area. The remaining of PRP can be then injected into any obvious lines or wrinkles.
What is the down time after the treatment?
The treated areas will be red on the day and gradually subside. Make up can be applied on the next day.
What is the after care?
Avoid touching or apply anything on the treated area for 12 hours. It’s advised to apply moisturiser regularly after 12 hours as the skin could be come dry and flaky during the first 2-3 days. Apply sunscreen and avoid strong sun exposure in the first week after the treatment.
ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS OF Vampire FACIAL REJUVENATION?
Minimal: Expect minimal swelling, bruising and redness for 12-24 hours. A bruise at the needle site may be visible for 2-3 days. Infection and scarring is very rare.
EXPECTATIONS OF the Vampire facial?
Results are visible at three weeks and improve gradually over ensuing months with im-provement in texture and tone.
Skin care and light therapies can enhance the results.
Advanced wrinkling cannot be reversed and a minimal improvement is predictable in per-sons with a heavy drug, alcohol and tobacco usage. Severe scarring may not respond.
How MANY Vampire facial TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
This will depend upon the health and age of your skin. Normally it is advised to have 2-3 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. However, your clinician will determine your treatment proto-col according to your skin condition.
