The Importance of Only Seeing an Experienced Cosmetic Medical Doctor

If you were looking to get your hair cut, or a tooth pulled out, or even just have your nails done, you’ll probably take the time to look for the right person for the job, right? You don’t want to pay an arm and a leg for someone who isn’t going to do what you want! Which is why, if you’re sensible, you’ll look for someone who’s properly qualified and has the experience you need to give you peace of mind.
In aesthetic medicine and cosmetic procedures, this definitely shouldn’t be any different. You should spend time finding an aesthetic doctor who’s properly qualified – and here’s why.
Safety First
Let’s start with the big one: Safety. This should always be your number one priority when looking to get aesthetic procedures done. Sure, dermal fillers and microneedling may not be quite so dangerous as open heart surgery, but things can definitely go wrong if you put your trust in the wrong hands!
If your doctor isn’t aesthetic qualified, they’re going to have less knowledge on how to carry out the procedures they’re doing properly and safely – that’s just a fact. They also won’t be as prepared to deal with any complications, such as allergic reactions or blocking of blood vessels, which can lead to some serious problems.
On the other hand, an aesthetic qualified doctor will know the ins and outs of every treatment they provide, will know how to do it safely to dramatically minimise every risk, and can deal with any complications quickly and calmly.
It’s Not the Law, but it Should Be
Whilst it’s not illegal for beauty therapists who aren’t aesthetic medical qualified to perform cosmetics procedures such as filler injections, it definitely isn’t a good idea, and this is the attitude of pretty much all of the medical sector. They’re not trained, so they shouldn’t be doing them! You wouldn’t ask your doctor for a manicure so why would you let a beauty therapists inject your face or any part of your body?
In fact, the UK does seem to be in the process of tightening the laws, which would be an amazing thing for the aesthetic industry – and for all of you, too.
In 2013, the then President of the British Associsation of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Rajiv Grover, stressed the need for new measures insuring that only doctors with the full medical training should be carrying out aesthetic treatments. He actually said ‘Aesthetic injectables should only ever be provided by medical professionals’, which is pretty much our opinion exactly.
Get the Results You Want
The final point is probably the most obvious – to get the results you want from your aesthetic procedures, you need to see someone who understands what they’re doing.
