Morpheus 8 – skin rejuvenation for the busy Londoner

Published on: October 30, 2020

London life can be hard on our skin. With longer working hours, higher levels of pollution that suburban or rural locations and the tendency for us to burn the candle at both ends, skin damage and premature ageing can become an annoying factor of fast-paced living in our capital. It’s well documented that as we start to age, skin laxity becomes an inevitable factor of this process, even for those who don’t live in the city. Skin ageing causes fine and deeper lines, wrinkles and skin laxity and the appearance of a sagging lower face, jowls and what is commonly referred to as a ‘turkey neck’. A sobering thought for those of us who want to stay as youthful-looking as we can for as long as possible.

At The London Cosmetic Clinic in Harley Street, the hub of cosmetic and plastic surgery in the UK, we feel that skin ageing shouldn’t become an inevitable part of life. We also understand that most Londoners don’t have the time for invasive surgery, lengthy recovery and significant financial outlay and this is why we specialise in non-surgical skin rejuvenation. One such treatment is Morpheus 8, which harnesses the well-researched benefits of radiofrequency (RF), coupled with medical microneedling technology for tighter, smoother and more toned skin.

Morpheus 8 is an in-clinic treatment using RF heat technology along with fractional micro-pins. The micro-pins inflict tiny injuries to the skin which stimulates a skin healing response with the production of new collagen and elastin fibres. These substances, which greatly diminish as we age, tighten, tone and lift the skin tissues. This leads to the reduction of lines and wrinkles, skin sagging, dehydration and laxity. Morpheus 8 is a clinically-proven fractional radiofrequency delivery system which transfers this energy deep in to the dermis, further enhancing skin tightening and scar reduction.

As Morpheus 8 is a non-surgical treatment, administered by a fully-qualified medical professional here at The London Cosmetic Clinic, most patients with mild to moderate skin ageing will find that their skin will benefit significantly from this treatment. However, before we can make the decision as to whether Morpheus 8 will be safe and beneficial for your individual concerns, we will ask that you attend a no-obligation consultation, so that we can assess your skin type and condition, check your medical history and discuss with you what you are expecting by means of results. After which, we can decide if Morpheus 8 is going to be the right treatment for you and if this is the case, can book your first appointment.

What happens during the treatment?

As Morpheus 8 offers a heating sensation along with fractional pins, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin, 45 minutes prior to the procedure – to help with any discomfort. When you are suitably numb, the hand-held device will be passed over the areas of concern. You might still feel some tingling and heating of the skin and this is completely normal, as the treatment reaches the very lower levels of the skin (the dermis). The full treatment should take around 30 minutes, not taking in to account the numbing time.

After the procedure, you will be able to return to your daily activities as there is no ‘clinical’ downtime to the procedure. However, there will be some aftercare instructions given, so that you can protect your skin and allow time for healing, such as avoiding hot saunas, baths and steam rooms, refraining from using makeup for 24 hours and keeping your skin clean and free of any outside pollutants as much as possible. There may be some slight erythema after the treatment and you may have red, shiny skin for a few days. Therefore, it’s advisable that if you have any engagements or special events to attend, that you have the treatment around 5 to 7 days beforehand. Wearing a good quality SPF and using cosmeceutical-grade skincare will help with your healing. A mineral makeup is also advised.

Morpheus 8 can offer significant results after just 1 treatment and as the weeks go on, you will notice more of an improvement. A course of treatment may be advised for more significant skin ageing and this will be discussed in your pre-treatment, initial consultation with your practitioner here at The London Cosmetic Clinic. We will ensure that you are fully-aware of how your skin may respond and how many treatments it is likely that you will need, so you can be confident that your expectations will be met.

Skin ageing doesn’t have to be something we Londoners have to put up with. A fast, effective and highly researched solution is available in Morpheus 8, with no need for a general anaesthetic, a surgeon’s scalpel or lengthy downtime. Contact us for more information and to arrange your no obligation consultation and skin analysis and take your first step to looking and feeling younger!
