Morpheus8 – what you need to know

What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is a device which combines RF technology with fractional micro pins.
When applied to the skin, the pins create tiny injuries and trauma and RF heat energy is transported to the deeper layers of the dermis, where substances such as collagen and elastin are created. This stimulates a natural healing response and involves the stimulation of new, healthy collagen and elastin; tightening and toning the skin and improving its resilience and reducing lines and wrinkles.
Morpheus8 enhances skin rejuvenation and can reduce the appearance of scars and pigmentation.
Am I suitable for Morpheus8?
As Morpheus8 is a non-invasive, non-surgical treatment, most people with ageing skin will benefit from the procedure. However, in a pre-treatment consultation, Dr Johnson will assess your skin, general health and discuss your expectations for results. She will then decide if the procedure will be both suitable and effective for your individual needs.
What happens during a Morpheus8 treatment?
Before the treatment commences, a topical anaesthetic will be applied to your skin.
After around 30 to 45 minutes, your skin should then be numbed and the procedure can commence. The Morpheus8 hand-held device head will then be passed over the areas of concern. At this point you may feel a tingling and heat on the skin.
A full treatment (not including the numbing period) takes around 30 minutes.
Does this treatment hurt?
As topical anaesthetic is applied before the Morpheus8 treatment, Morpheus8 should not be painful as such, though there are some sensations associated with this treatment.
A pricking feeling or warming of the skin may be experienced, though the numbing cream will ease these sensations considerably.
Is there downtime?
As Morpheus8 is a non-surgical procedure there is minimal downtime. However, you may experience pink and shiny skin after the treatment for around 5 days, which is completely normal and as expected. Your skin may also peel slightly afterwards which again, is a natural response to the procedure.
After the treatment with Morpheus8, you will need to avoid strong sunlight for a few days and wear a high factor SPF as well as a good quality moisturiser (at The London Cosmetic Clinic we advise all our patients to wear SPF every day). After the first day following your procedure, a good mineral makeup is advised to assist with healing.
When will I see the results from Morpheus8?
Results can be seen after just 1 treatment, however, for optimum and longer-term results, Dr Johnson advises on a course of treatment. The number of sessions recommended will be discussed in your pre-treatment consultation.
