Botulinum toxin is a protein produced by bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It relaxes muscle by temporarily blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces muscle activity that causes lines and wrinkles.

PRIOR THE TREATMENT :
The doctor will review your medical history to ensure you are suitable for the treatment, medically examine the jaw muscle to determine the injection sites and explain the procedure, after care, all possible complications and how to avoid prior the treatment.

THE TREATMENT :
The procedure is minimal pain. The doctor has a specialized method of injection that minimise discomfort without the need for an anaesthetic cream.
There are a few injections of Botulinum toxin per side of the jaw during the procedure.
POST TREATMENT CARE :
There really is no recovery period and significant swelling or bruising. The Botulinum toxin jaw slimming treatment takes only fifteen minutes as an in office procedure and you may drive home thereafter. There really are no restrictions in your activity post procedure.
However, patients must not rub or massage the treated area for 4 hours after the injection in order to prevent spreading of the medication. Specific after care instructions will be provided during your visit by our Clinic Coordinator.

PRIOR THE TREATMENT :
The area is cleaned with antiseptic and marked using a marker pen to decide on the optimum site for enhancement. Numbing cream can be applied if patients prefer for additional comfort
TREATMENT :
The filler and new injection technique has allowed the treatment to be very comfortable. Juvederm VOLUMA is slowly injected into the chin. The result is immediate and will last about up to 18 months. However, due to the immediate swelling from the procedure the final result will not be seen until about 3-4 weeks. POST TREATMENT :
It is advised to lay on your back for the first 2-3 nights sleep to avoid pressure on your chin.
Avoid touching and applying creams or make up for 6 hours after the treatment to prevent infection.
Avoid exercise for 4-6 hours post treatment.
Minimise excessive sun exposure.
Ensure to wear an SPF 35+ daily.

One of the criteria to decide if you are a good candidate is the thickness of your masseter muscle (jaw muscle). The relative thickness of the masseter can be easily determined by biting down hard and feeling the outer jawline.
