Everything about Alluzience; the advanced botulinum toxin in the UK!

Published on: January 3, 2023

Humans have over the years researched and achieved different ways to improve their health status physically. This may be through the use of pills, injections, or even surgery. These procedures may either be to prevent these health issues or to correct them.

One of the main health focuses of humans is skin health. And different ways can be used to maintain good skin health, prevent skin-related issues and also treat any, when it occurs. One of these is Alluzience.

This article shall explain all you need to know about Alluzience and how it can have an effect on your skin health.

Alluzience is an advanced botulinum toxin-a new wrinkle-relaxing injection launched by Galderma (the world’s largest independent dermatology company). This innovative injection, which is the very first ready-to-use liquid neurotoxin in the UK has a registered trademark and was created by Ipsen. It is used to smooth stubborn upper facial lines and folds, which include improving the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows), otherwise known as frown lines.

Unlike other BoNT-A products that require dilution with sodium chloride before they can be used, Alluzience allows for more precision with safe dosage accuracy because it doesn’t require any calculations. It is also free from human and animal-derived proteins such as human serum albumin and lactose because it is produced with novel production technologies.

How does Alluzience work?

Alluzience injections are aesthetic medicines that stop the contraction of targeted muscles by blocking the transport of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine across the neuromuscular junction, located between the nerve end and the muscle fibre.

Unlike other standard botulinum toxin brands such as azure, Xeomin, Vistable, Dysport, bocouture and botox which take about 7-14 days to have visible effects, Alluzience kick-starts work as soon as 24 hours after injection.

For the lasting span, Alluzience lasts up to 6 months before a patient would be due for another session. This is another benefit it has over other botulinum toxins, as they last only three to four months before another session.

It is, however, important to know that Alluzience shots should be done with professionals that have extensive experience in using standard botulinum toxins, such as those in The London Cosmetic Clinic

Alluzience Benefits

Aside from the fact that Alluzience works like other botulinum toxins to smoothen and prevent lines and wrinkles, increased range of movement, reduced pain and discomfort, increased quality of life and treatment of medical ailments such as spasticity, blepharospasm and migraines, It also has the following benefits that make it have an upper hand over the other commonly used toxin brands in the UK(Vistabel, Azzalure (Dysport), and Xeomin.

These benefits include;

  • Easier to use

Before the introduction of alluzience in the UK, all brands of botulinum toxins were in powder form. They had to be diluted with saline before use. However, Alluzience makes it easier for your practitioner to not worry about calculations and precise dosage. This allays the stress of worrying about dosage safety.

  • The quicker onset of action

Alluzience botulinum toxin as tested hits faster than other types. It is reported to show visible results within 24 hours of usage, or on some occasions, 2-3days after. Other botulinum toxins take about 7 days, and in some patients, about 14 days before getting visible results.

  • Effects longevity

In one of Galderma’s reports on Alluzience, it was established that results usually last about 6 months before a patient is due for another session.  Other botulinum toxins span is usually within the range of 3-4 months.

Alluzience side effects

Just like every other medicine, injection, or surgery, there are some side effects, although not applicable to everyone. These side effects include;

  • Pain

Alluzience can be more painful to inject than other botulinum toxins, but the pain is usually not more than at the time of injection. Those who have fear of needles or a low pain threshold may because of this, want to explore other botulinum toxin options. But alluzience results? Definitely worth the mild pain!

  • Injection sites reactions

These reactions, which are seemingly normal includes; bruising, pain, tingling, itching, swelling, discomfort, irritation and redness.

You should inform your doctor about any of these experiences to get medical advice.

  • Headache

Headache is one of the most frequently reported side effects of alluzience injections. This is quite normal and can last for a few hours or a day after the injection. Anything more than that should be reported to your doctor for a relief prescription.

  • Swollen, droopy or dry eyes

Another side effect that may arise with alluzience is swollen, droopy or dry eyes. Although this side effect is common, it should not be taken with levity because it may cause corneal disorders. Ointments and protective drops can be used for this, as prescribed by the doctor.

  • Facial paralysis

Patients may experience temporary facial paralysis if the injection is around the eye area. This is often temporary but should be discussed with your doctor.

  • Difficulty breathing, swallowing or speaking

This is one of the side effects that should be taken seriously and reported as an emergency because it may lead to death. However, it is very uncommon.

  • Red/itchy bumpy rash

This side effect usually suggests an allergic reaction to alluzience and should be treated as an emergency.

Alluzience approval

Galderma got an exclusive license for the promotion and distribution of Alluzience injection in some approved indications in Europe.

Alluzience vs Botox

Alluzience is a new-to-the-market botulinum toxin type A that takes effect faster, and also lasts longer than other botulinum toxins.

Putting alluzience with other botulinum toxins(botox) side by side, its features may make it preferable to both doctors and patients.

Is alluzience available in the UK?

Alluzience became available in other European countries in early 2022 and got into the UK in June 2022. So, yes it is available and can be gotten in professional clinics such as The London Cosmetic Clinic

How do you use alluzience?

For alluzience injection, a trained professional is required to give the dosage according to the patient’s need and condition. Visit The London Cosmetic Clinic for more information.

Are there people that are not suitable for alluzience?

Yes, there are some exceptions to people who can take alluzience injections. These sets of people include; pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and people with chronic muscle or nerve conditions such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, or Eaton-Lambert syndrome.

What is azzalure injection used for?

Azzalure is a powder for solution injection that is used to smoothen and get rid of frown lines and wrinkles in adults under 65 years. Azzalure, however, has fewer proteins compared to botulinum toxins such as alluzience.

Is Azzalure as good as botox?

Although azure and botulinum toxins(botox) share some similarities, there are also differences. A patient would need to take about 3 units of azzalure to get the same effect as from botulinum toxin(Botox).

Final words

Alluzience injections are part of the medical Aesthetics people engage in, especially people who are conscious about their looks and skin confidence. Alluzience injections are used to smoothen fine lines and wrinkles that are not esthetically pleasing. However, Alluzience injections can’t be used without proper professional advice and supervision. Book an appointment with the London Cosmetic clinic if you are considering getting this botulinum toxin for whatever reason.
