Morpheus8 for skin resurfacing

Published on: December 17, 2020

As we get older, the skin can start to change in its appearance. Fine and deeper lines can start to appear. The skin becomes lax, losing elasticity and ‘bounce’ and the tone and texture of the skin can change from a smooth, plump look and feel to a dry, dehydrated complexion. Not something any of us will be looking forward to! Fortunately, advances in cosmetic medicine mean that we no longer have to grin and bear it when it comes to skin ageing and at The London Cosmetic Clinic, in Harley Street, Dr Salinda Johnson and her team of clinical skin experts, offer a wide-range of in-clinic treatments and therapies to help your skin stay younger looking for longer.

Among many advances in cosmetic medicine, state-of-the-art technologies such as radiofrequency (RF) and medical microneedling have been well documented to the highly-effective to assist in the revitalisation and healing of the skin. We offer Morpheus8, which incorporates both RF and microneedling for an intensive treatment, offering significant results for ageing, lacklustre skin.

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is a clinically-proven device, offering RF heat technology alongside fractional micro needling in the form of micro pins. When the device applied to the skin, the micro pins create a trauma (damage) to the skin. The RF energy reaches the deeper layers of the dermis, where vital skin healing substances such as collagen and elastin are produced. As the skin ages, collagen and elastin begin to deplete. By stimulating the production of these substances, the skin is revitalised, hydrated and becomes more resilient. Morpheus8 helps to smooth the tone and texture and create a plump appearance to the complexion. Morpheus8 not only helps to replenish and rejuvenate the skin, but can reduce the appearance of scars and pigmentation caused by sun damage and the natural ageing process.

Morpheus8 can treat the following skin conditions:-

  • Mild to moderate lines and wrinkles
  • Sagging, lax and crêpey skin
  • Age spots, sun spots and sun damage
  • Scars such as trauma and acne scars
  • Dry and dehydrated skin
  • Dull skin lacking in vitality

Morpheus8 can treat all areas of the body, good news for those of us with areas of skin laxity such as the elbows or above the knees. However, the treatment is most commonly administered on areas which are affected by the ageing process including the face, neck and decolletage.

Am I suitable for a treatment with Morpheus 8 at The London Cosmetic Clinic?

Morpheus8 is a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment, most patients with mild to moderately ageing and uneven skin texture can benefit from this treatment. However, before any non-surgical treatment is carried out, here at The London Cosmetic Clinic in Harley Street, we will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation, so that we can assess your individual concerns, analyse your skin and check your medical history. It is part of our duty of care to all our patients, to carry out this pre-treatment assessment, so that you are fully aware of what to expect and that we can be certain that you have no medical contraindications which might prevent or restrict the treatment.

These include:-

  • Current history of skin cancer or any type of cancer
  • Any metallic or electronic implants within the face or body
  • A pacemaker or internal defibrillator
  • Cochlear implants
  • Permanent implants in areas to be treated (metal piercings, metal plates, screws, silicon)
  • Pregnancy and nursing
  • Severe concurrent conditions such as cardiac disorders or sensory disturbances
  • Pre-malignant moles
  • Impaired immune system due to immunosuppressive diseases (such as AIDS and HIV) and use of immunosuppressive medication
  • Other cosmetic treatments such as Botox, HA dermal fillers, collagen or fat injections

What happens during a Morpheus8 treatment at The London Cosmetic Clinic, Harley Street?

Prior to the Morpheus8 procedure, a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to your skin to numb the area. After around 30 minutes, your practitioner will pass the Morpheus8 hand-held device head across the areas of skin to be treated. You might feel a prickling or tingling sensation and some warmth, but this should not be painful. The treatment itself will take around 30 minutes, after which, you can return to your daily activities.

<h2?When will I see the results?

You will be able to see some results after just 1 treatment with Morpheus8, however, for optimum and long-term improvements, we advise on a course of treatment, the length of which will be recommended by your practitioner in your initial consultation. It’s usual that for the very best results, a course of between 1 and 3 treatment sessions is required.

How long will the results last from my Morpheus8 treatments?

For some specific skin concerns, Morpheus8 can be a long-term and even permanent solution. However, it’s important to take in to consideration that even though Morpheus8 can offer significant improvements to the skin’s tone and texture, the ageing process will continue (there’s no cure for that unfortunately). To maintain the beautiful results that this treatment can offer, we would recommend annual to bi-annual top up sessions, so that your skin will keep its healthy appearance and glow. Following a healthy lifestyle and a good skincare regime, as well as avoiding extreme sun-exposure as well as avoiding certain lifestyle choices such as smoking will also help to keep your skin in tip top condition.

We don’t have to put up with ageing or damaged skin. Morpheus8 is a state-of-the-art skin rejuvenation system which can help to resurface and revitalise your skin for a more youthful and vibrant complexion and is now readily available here at The London Cosmetic Clinic.
