Non-surgical rhinoplasty
Published on: March 10, 2020
Non-surgical rhinoplasty: A surgical nose job (rhinoplasty) is an extremely popular and common cosmetic procedure and can be highly-effective in reshaping and sculpting the nose, whether for cosmetic or medical reasons. However, this approach isn’t without its risks and for some, surgical intervention may not be required and a less-invasive procedure might be more suitable.
At The London Cosmetic Clinic on the famous Harley Street, Dr Salinda Johnson, a highly-respected and talented cosmetic doctor, offers non- surgical rhinoplasty. She uses dermal fillers for those patients who would prefer to not go under the knife, and who’s concerns can be corrected in a less-invasive way.
Over her career, Dr Johnson has performed over 6,000 non-surgical rhinoplasty procedures, so when you visit The London Cosmetic Clinic, you are assured that you are in safe and experienced hands.
What is non-surgical rhinoplasty?
Non-surgical rhinoplasty is a safe alternative to a traditional, surgical nose job and carries far less risk, downtime and discomfort.
Non-surgical nose reshaping involves the application via injection of dermal fillers, containing hyaluronic acid, to reshape the nose. Sometimes known the ‘lunchtime’ nose job, non-surgical rhinoplasty can be performed in-clinic with no downtime or need for a general anesthetic. This makes the treatment extremely accessible and convenient for those who lead busy lives and don’t have the time for a surgical treatment and lengthy recovery period.
What are dermal fillers?
The most commonly used and safest dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance which occurs in the connective tissues the eyes and the skin.
Alongside collagen and elastin, HA gives the skin its youthful and hydrated appearance. The HA used in dermal fillers is a medically synthesized version which matches our own tissues very closely, so the risk of side-effects is extremely rare.
Dermal fillers offer a temporary effect in augmenting lost volume and ‘building’ up areas so that a more pleasing appearance can be achieved, offering natural and pleasing results with minimal discomfort and downtime.
The treatment process
Prior to any treatment, Dr Johnson will conduct a comprehensive consultation with you, to ascertain your concerns, check your medical history and discuss your expectations. Only then will he decide whether you will benefit from this treatment.
Dermal fillers can help with the following concerns in the nasal area:
- A slightly crooked nose
- A small nose that needs building up
- A hooked shaped nose that requires straightening
- A mild to moderate bridge or bump on the nose
- A nose requiring refinement following surgical rhinoplasty
- A nose that requires more height, definition or a nose tip
The treatment itself is very straightforward and take around 30 minutes.
Many HA dermal fillers for the nasal area now contain an anaesthetic to minimize any discomfort, however, if the anaesthetic is not contained within the product, Dr Johnson will administer either an injectable or a topical anaesthetic to numb the area.
The dermal filler is injected precisely to the areas required and Dr Johnson will massage or shape the product to achieve the most pleasing outcome.
You are fully awake during the treatment and therefore can monitor the process and communicate with Dr Johnson on results.
Non-surgical rhinoplasty results and aftercare
One of the benefits of a non-surgical rhinoplasty is that there is very little to no downtime and you can return to your regular daily activities immediately afterwards. You must adhere to any advice that Dr Johnson advises, such as not touching the area and avoiding the application of make up for around 6 hours post-treatment, in order to let the product settle and to prevent possible infection.
You will see results immediately and can last anything from 6-18 months, depending on the product used, your lifestyle and how you take care of yourself and the absorption rate of the dermal filler over time. Because the results are not permanent, adjustments can be made as your face changes over time, each time you have the treatment.
After your initial session, you will be able to return to the surgery for a top up if required, however, it’s advisable to allow at least two weeks for the product to settle prior to another visit.
