Stretched Earlobe Repair

Whether you’ve been wearing plugs, or your heavy earrings have stretched or completely ripped the fleshy part of your ear, don’t panic – it’s not the end of the world! We can fix them for you. At The London Cosmetic Clinic, we offer earlobe repair (otherwise known as lobuloplasty) to get those ears back in shape.
The Procedure
After a chat with your consultant about the problem with your earlobe, they’ll discuss with you the best exact method of repairing the damage. Before it all gets underway, you’ll be put under a local anaesthetic so that you won’t feel a thing, and the procedure should only take about an hour to complete.
In terms of what your specialist will actually do, they’ll first neaten the edge of the damaged earlobe, which involves removing tiny bits of skin. They’ll then very carefully reconstruct your earlobe, stitching everything back up with fine sutures until it’s back to a normal shape that suits your ear.
It’s not painful, doesn’t take long and will give you back confidence in your ears, so you can get back to wearing the earrings you love.
After Care
Just a few hours after the surgery, you can take off the dressing and wash your earlobe with saline. You should do this very carefully using cotton buds twice a day to prevent any infection. After you’ve cleaned it properly, you’ll need to apply a little of an antibiotic cream just to be sure that the wound is entirely free from bad bacteria.
For the first 3 or 4 days, it’s best to keep the earlobe dry (so wash your hair before you get the treatment done!) and you shouldn’t be touching the area apart from when you wash it.
The question that we get asked most frequently is when it’s okay to get the ear pierced again. The answer is not until at least six months have passed, and we’d also advice that you pierce around the wound area rather than directly on it.
A re-piercing is actually included in our procedure, making it even better value for money!
